Stress affects our memory
A region in the brain called prefrontal cortex is known for the memory functions of the brain. Prefrontal cortex functioning is greatly based on the glutamate receptors. A recent study have shown that the repeated stress can lead to the loss of glutamate receptors thus affecting functioning of prefrontal cortex. Dysfunctioning of PFC (prefrontal cortex) affect the memory of humans. Thus repeated stress can lead to memory disturbances especially the stress in adoloscent period as said by Dr.Yan and his colleagues.
